READ MEWhen Ruby was sexually assaulted by her own boyfriend, she had no idea what to do.
"Without Kids Helpline, I never would've had the courage to face him in court."
Though I said no both times, he kept going. I wasn't coping well afterwards... I wouldn't eat or drink or even face my own brothers. Life just wasn't worth living anymore. I was in the middle of exams when it happened and I failed everything because the rape took over my life. No one understood what I was going through, except my mum. Thank god I had her, she was and still is my rock. When I started to self-harm and learnt that crying and punching things weren't going to help, I knew I had to talk to someone.
I gained the courage to go to the Police and charge him. I went to court, and even though I lost I know it was the right thing to do. Nowadays I'm feeling a lot better and I hope I can help someone that has been through the same thing.
