READ MEIn trouble at school and angry at the world, Laurence reached out for help.
“You don't have to be that perfect person.”
Partially, I realised that I was genderqueer - but more than this, I felt so angry at everything. I couldn't pay attention. Couldn't sit still. Kept getting in trouble at school. All the while somehow convincing my parents and friends that I was still this perfect kid. That everything was fine.
It really helped clear up some of the things that were going on as well as provide healthy coping mechanisms that I still use three years later. Now I'm beginning to open up to my friends about my struggles. My grades are up and I'm a lot more comfortable in myself.
You don't have to be that perfect person. You don't need to have everything labelled out or have an explanation for everything. It will be ok.
