READ MEMark wasn’t sure how to tell his friends he was gay.
“There is always someone to turn to for help.”
I thought that it was a bit weird and I tried to hide it by getting a girlfriend so that none of my friends thought that I was weird. My friends used to make jokes about gay people and I would just go along with them to not act weird.
So I talked to my mum about it and she said that it is ok to be gay. I was too scared to tell my dad because I thought that he would not see me in the same way. But I did tell him and he still treats me the same - better even. I contacted Kids Helpline for help on how I should tell my friends. They really helped me get through it. I also found out that my best friend was gay as well and now we are a great couple and our friends treat us the same.
