Wayne's Story
Submitted by stoyan on Fri, 01/28/2022 - 14:05Jan learnt a lot about Wayne from this podcast – and a lot about what it’s like to be a big tough guy with depression. She also learnt why Wayne works so hard to get the message about depression out to the community – and why he does it so well.

Thinkladder

Young adult feedback
The app offers nice audio and gratitude practices, but the functionality of this app is a little hard to understand and the ‘insight’ aspect is confusing and almost tedious.
Expert feedback
Thinkladder is a simple app designed to assist users in identifying, and challenging, limiting beliefs. Users are able to select from topics that are most relevant to them and are guided through expert insights to create positive change. The app also offers audio options for relaxation! User friendliness could be improved through greater structure in content display.

MoodTools - Depression Aid

Young adult feedback
MoodTools is not a visually interesting app, but offers a good range of audio and video resources, a great safety planning tool, and helpful readings about treatment guides.
Expert feedback
Moodtools is a well-organised app providing a broad range of tools to assist users who are diagnosed with Depression. The app contains CBT exercises, lists support options and resources, has an extensive list of helpful YouTube videos, and includes a non-stigmatising Depression screening test that suggests supports based on user scores. The visual design is very basic, but this app is highly recommended!

#SelfLove & Motivation Journey

Young adult feedback
The app provides short activities to help reduce negative thoughts and promotes positive self-talk. It is really basic and not very entertaining but may be useful for a few minutes a day to encourage positive thinking.
Expert feedback
This app focuses on challenging unhelpful thinking patterns and providing users with positive thoughts through reframing statements. The app aims to help users better manage a range of mental health and wellbeing concerns and is simple to use. Content is limited and there is not psychoeducation provided around the purpose of thought challenge, but worth trying as users may find statements helpful.

GG OCD - Anxiety & Depression

Young adult feedback
This app has some confusing elements, but really good concepts overall and I would recommend it to others.
Expert feedback
A user friendly app that focuses on challenging unhelpful thinking patterns and providing users with positive thoughts to help better manage a range of mental health and wellbeing concerns. The design makes the app easy to use, but the information can become repetitive and tedious. There seems to be little education to highlight the reasons why a user’s belief might be unhelpful, and there appears to be cultural considerations given to suggestions. Overall, the app is worth exploring but may not be suited to users who are disengaged within 10 minutes.
