The app was highly customisable and interesting with the interactiveness in place for the users and still having a calming contrast on the layout which did make me feel calmer with such colour schemes. I really liked the modern design of the app and the tracking that comes along with it.
Designed by psychologists and educators, Smiling Mind is very well developed and designed mindfulness meditation app. It's a very pleasant app to use and has a simple, clean and calming interface. With an age range from seven upwards, Smiling Mind caters for all ages with a variety of meditations available for everyone to do at different stages of their lives. A highly recommended app with it's effectiveness starting to be backed up with research.

I never found myself being able to break free. I had a fake smile and was always shy. No one knew what my life was like and that I hid a dark side.
My counsellor suggested many great things to help me. I have learned to not let negative thoughts take over your life, but to break out of the bubble and find someone that you trust to talk to.

I would constantly argue with my Mum & her husband about small silly things. I would often cry myself to sleep knowing the next day would be the same drama, different day. It sucked a lot. I felt like I had no one to turn to, no one to talk to, no one to trust. Basically I had no one. I counted down the days until I turned 18 so I was an adult & no one could boss me around. I longed for that day but it seemed so far away. Just when I thought things were going to be fine, things went downhill again.

At the age of 15 my family was falling apart. I tried sharing it with my two closest friends and instead of being there for me they decided to tell the rest of the school. I shut down, I didn't go to school unless I was forced to. I started self harming and stealing alcohol from my mother's cupboard. At the age of 16, I started smoking pot. Then I met someone who was a little older and they made me realise that I didn't need pot to be happy.
