READ MECheryl needed someone to listen, without judgement.
“I felt safe to know I could always go to Kids Helpline.”
I just wanted to express my thoughts and for someone to listen to me and to not fix me. Kids Helpline did that. I was really grateful how they were able to listen to me and yet helped me process what I was going through. I tried Kids Helpline because they were directed towards young people and were more youth-friendly than some other services. When I was talking with Kids Helpline I felt more comfortable and okay with my problems. They were not solved per se but I felt that they weren't as debilitating.
When they asked what I would do at the end of the session it made me happy because I felt like I could take away something tangible from the conversation too.
I know it's really hard and tough to seek help. There can be a lot of thoughts, whether that be you're not worth it, there's no point, it's hopeless, no one can truly understand, help you, etc. But if you can, why not check whether it's true. Is it really impossible to recover? Do you really have no hope? Even if you don't feel like it, maybe things are worth a go. Just seek help and see whether it really does help. If it does - great. If it doesn't - it's okay to find something else.
